Where It All Began

The Quest for Truth Scholarship Fund was created in memory of Trevor Smith, beloved cousin of the founders of True Self Yoga and a cherished part of our community. Trevor’s life and spirit helped shape the early heart of this space — rooted in truth, compassion, inclusion, and a deep enthusiasm for growth and connection.

The name “Quest for Truth” comes from a memorable moment when Trevor was a student at Black Hills High School. Upon entering the library, the librarian asked if she could help him find something, and Trevor replied, “The truth… I’m on a quest for truth.” That story continues to embody the curiosity, humor, and sincerity that Trevor carried through life.

This fund reflects our ongoing commitment to equity, accessibility, and creating a space where all are truly welcome. Every membership, donation, and scholarship application helps carry Trevor’s legacy forward and supports others on their own path of self-discovery and healing.

You didn’t have to personally know Trevor to resonate with his quest for truth. May his life serve as a reminder that life is both impermanent and paradoxical — inviting us to keep a sense of humor, maintain balance in body and mind, and courageously embrace our own quest for truth.
